Ayurveda in Aveda

Aveda Stress Fix and Blue Oil

There are brands that cater to the outer beauty of our bodies and make us feel beautiful and then there are those that treat what’s within the body to help lead us to a greater balance and well-being.

Being of Indian origin, I have grown up with the concepts of Ayurveda around me and how it lends to a harmonized self being. Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which continues to be one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). Ayurveda simply states that the mind and the body are inextricably connected, and nothing has more power to heal and transform our bodies than the mind.

Aveda has its root woven into Ayurveda and began its journey in 1978. Not only are their products well researched, but are also backed by the doctrines of Ayurveda.

I lately refilled my stress-fix concentrate and blue oil balancing concentrate and realized that just because they were tiny to notice and were so intertwined in my daily routine, that they got ignored. Wonder why it never occurred to me to pay them their well-deserved and due respect?

My first encounter with Aveda happened when I visited my aunt in Seattle who is a pain management expert and has a vast understanding of body and how it behaves to different pain management techniques and especially the aromas. She suggested me the blue balancing oil for my migraines especially during my monthly cycle and I was quite amazed to see how this little liquid bottle relieved my pain and made me feel better straightway. It is a strong extract and is very helpful especially when you have days of blocked nose or headaches or even any other body aches for that matter. It smells of fresh peppermint and soothing blue chamomile. The rollerball applicator releases the concentrate and it is just perfect for self-massage.

After a smacking performance from Blue oil, I had to try the other oil extract from them and so came along the stress-fix concentrate. It combats stress and includes essences of lavender. I usually hold it over my nose; take a deep breath and a strong aroma of lavender runs down my body. I can feel a calm and soothing sensation engulfing me from within. I sniff it every night before going to the bed and have seen results especially on days when I find it hard to sleep or in the mornings when I don’t get enough sleep during night and feel energy deprived.

The rollerball applicator is so convenient and helps to relieves tension when rolled over the skin with slight pressure. The products are slightly expensive but have great longevity.

The most unbiased review for the product came from my sweetheart Ollie, who’s a Labrador. He likes the fragrance so much that he can’t stop sniffing it and within seconds I see him lying flat on the floor with legs in the air and soon he is zzzzzzzzz. His behavior led me to google and I found that dogs become calm when they smell lavender.

So in case you ever wondered how to encompass Ayurveda into the lifestyle, these oils are a classic example of that.
